Keirsten Van Hoek

Keirst's passion for design began in the '90s, inspired by the futuristic screen UI in the movie Starship Troopers. The movie's imaginative depiction of the internet captivated them and sparked an obsession. They first explored design through creating profile layouts on MySpace and learning Adobe Photoshop 7.0 at the age of 13 at a best friend's house, which fueled their decision to pursue a creative career path over one in mechanical engineering. (They still love building robots.)

Keirst holds a Bachelor's degree in Art with a specialty in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. At the time, it was the closest thing to a UX degree before Product Design became a recognized field. Their first job post-graduation saw them winning a Telly Design Award, setting the stage for a successful career.

As the tech industry evolved, so did the role of the UX designer. To adapt, Keirst completed a Dev bootcamp at Dev Mountain, focusing on Swift iOS development and Front-End Web design. This training propelled their career as a UX designer, thriving in crafting gorgeous, functional websites, apps, and SAAS platforms.

Keirst is passionate about studying how people interact with digital products and is dedicated to solving complex problems through meticulous research, prototyping, and thorough A/B testing. Caring deeply about users, their experience is at the forefront of every project they undertake. Keirst is an expert in identifying user pain points and solving them, leading to higher conversion rates and better user flows.

Their love for Product Design runs deep, having nurtured it long before it was a formal career choice. When not designing in their home office, you can find them hiking the Superstition Mountains, drawing inspiration from nature's beauty.
