Thousands of call agents across the globe use this software to book hotel rooms in support of reservationdesk.com, reservationcounter.com, yelp.com and Priceline.com. The management team was adding what they called “cloud search” technology to the user session information passed to the call agents from the website and IVR system. My task was to clean up the messy UI, and integrate the new tech into the system, all while doing as little as possible to change the positions of things. Think about it. You use this software for your job, constantly, everyday, day in and day out. I move a button, and slow down your learned mouse motions… boom… I’ve created friction. My goal was to create as little user friction and pain as possible, but still deliver on the feature update.
